Swimming pool repair companies in Dubai

Two villa pools in the same Dubai community lose water at exactly the same rate. One needs an AED 350 gasket. The other needs AED 60,000 of structural work. Telling those apart before anyone breaks concrete is the real job of a pool repair company, and it is the step most of them skip.

⚡ Short answer

Green Creation is the strongest choice for pool repair in Dubai. Twenty years in the UAE, 8,940 completed projects, and an in-house team of commercial divers who are qualified pool engineers, so most repairs happen with the pool still full of water. What a swimming pool repair contractor does

A pool is six systems stacked on top of each other. The concrete shell. The waterproofing layer bonded to it. The tile or plaster finish. The pipework is buried in the ground. The plant room with its pump, filter and sanitiser. And the electrical work, which nobody sees and everybody should ask about. Repair work means finding which of those six failed, then fixing that one, in that order.

This is why the same visible symptom can be cheap or ruinous. A loose waterline tile is a tiling job if the adhesive gave up. It is a waterproofing job if water gets behind the tile bed. It is a structural job if the shell is moving. Same tile. Three prices, roughly AED 400, AED 25,000 and AED 70,000.

Good pool repair companies in Dubai work down through the layers before touching anything. Weak ones start at the top, because the top is the cheapest thing to sell.

The six layers and what failure looks like in each

Layer What fails in Dubai What you see from the deck
Shell Movement cracks, corroded rebar from chloride-rich ground and salt water, uplift damage after a drain-down A crack that runs, rust staining, a floor that is no longer flat
Waterproofing Membrane failure at joints and penetrations, usually where the original job was rushed Steady water loss with no visible crack, damp deck, wet garden on one side
Finish Tile delamination from thermal cycling, grout washout, chalky plaster, and calcium band at the waterline Loose or lifted tiles, rough patches underfoot, a white crust at water level
Pipework Cracked PVC at joints, a leaking skimmer throat, a failed hydrostatic valve, sun-brittled above-ground sections Air in the pump basket, a soft or sinking patch of deck, water loss that changes with the pump
Plant room Pump seals killed by dust and heat, blinded filter media, scaled salt cells, drifting probes Noise, weak return flow, cloudy water that will not clear, rising pressure gauge
Electrical Broken equipotential bonding, water in the light niche, a residual current device that never gets tested Nothing at all, until someone gets a tingle in the water.

⚠ The repeat-repair trap

If a repair fixes a layer above the one that failed, it works for one season. New plaster over failed waterproofing looks perfect until the first summer. When a Dubai pool has been repaired twice for the same fault, the diagnosis was wrong both times, not the workmanship.

Leak or evaporation, and how to tell

Most calls to pool repair companies in Dubai start with water loss. Most of that water loss is not a leak.

An open pool in a Dubai summer loses roughly 6 to 10 mm of depth a day to evaporation. On an 8 by 4 metre pool that is about 250 litres a day, every day, with nothing wrong. Wind across the surface pushes it higher. A heated pool or a spa pushes it higher again. In winter the same pool might lose 2 to 4 mm a day. Owners who top up automatically never notice any of this until the bill or the salt level looks strange.

So the first measurement is not where the water is going. It is how much is going, compared with a bucket sitting in the same air.

The bucket test, done properly

Switch off the auto top-up first.

A float valve or auto-fill quietly refills the pool while you measure. Half the leaks in Dubai villas hide behind one, sometimes for years, until a water bill or a stubbornly low salt reading gives it away. Turn it off for the test.

Float a bucket on the step.

Fill a bucket with pool water and stand it on the second step so the level inside matches the level outside. Mark both. Leave it 24 hours with the pump running as normal.

Read the gap, not the drop.

Equal drops mean evaporation and nothing else. If the pool dropped further, that difference is your leak rate in millimetres per day. Write the number down.

Run it again with the pump off.

This is the step almost nobody does, and it is the one that saves money. The pressure in the plumbing changes depending on whether the pump is running, so the loss changes too.

What the two tests show Where the water is most likely going What should happen next?
Loses more with the pump running Pressure side: return lines, return fittings, the pipe run back from the filter Isolate and pressure test the return circuit before any digging.
Loses more with the pump off Suction side: skimmer throat, skimmer line, main drain line Dye test the skimmer and main drain, then pressure test those lines.
Loses the same either way The shell itself, a fitting, the light niche, or a stuck hydrostatic valve Underwater dye testing and an acoustic sweep of the shell
Loss stops at one level and holds. The fault is at that depth, commonly the skimmer mouth, a light or a step joint. Inspect that band closely; this is the easiest leak in the business to find.
Matches the bucket exactly Nothing is leaking. Look at evaporation control and top-up settings, not at repairs.

Hand those numbers to whoever comes to quote. A company that ignores them and offers to drain the pool has decided to guess, and you are paying for the guess.

The tools a real repair company brings

Pool repair in Dubai has quietly become a diagnostic trade. The gear below is what separates a company that finds the fault in one visit from one that opens the deck in three places and hopes.

Tool What it finds Where it stops working
Tracer dye and dye cones Suction at a crack, fitting, skimmer throat, light niche or main drain Needs still water and good visibility, useless for buried pipe
Hydrophone and pipe microphone The hiss of water escaping under pressure, heard through the water or from inside a return line Needs the pool quiet, and pump noise has to be managed.
Ground microphone and soil probes Leak noise through deck slabs and the soil between the pool and plant room. A deep pipe under thick concrete gives a weak signal.
Pressure test rig Confirms a circuit is failing, each line plugged and held at about 20 to 30 psi with the drop timed over 15 minutes Proves a line leaks, does not say where along the line
Tracer gas kit Pinpoints buried leaks, a hydrogen and nitrogen mix pushed into the line and sniffed at the surface Slow, costly, and wasted if the pressure test has not narrowed the circuit first
Thermal camera Wet ground and wet wall build-ups that the eye misses Fooled by sun-heated decks, best used early morning
Pipe camera Root intrusion, collapsed pipe, blockages, joint failures inside the line Needs an access point; tight bends stop the head.
Dive kit and underwater lamp Everything below the surface, tested and repaired without draining Only useful if the divers are trained pool engineers, not just certified divers
Filter pressure gauge with a clean baseline Whether the filter is blinded or the pump is failing, by comparing against the pressure recorded when the media was new Worthless if nobody ever wrote down the clean-filter reading
Clamp meter and insulation tester A pump drawing more current than its rating, and faults in bonding or the light circuit Needs an electrician, not a pool cleaner

⚡ One question that sorts the market

Ask which of these tools the company owns rather than rents. Most Dubai pool firms own dye and a pressure rig. Far fewer own listening gear. Very few carry a dive team. The answer tells you how the leak will be found and how much of your deck will survive it.

The drain-down question, which decides everything

In cooler countries, emptying a pool for repair is routine. In Dubai it is the single riskiest thing anyone can do to a pool shell, and it changes the price, the timeline and the risk of the entire job. This is the question to settle before you talk about money.

Why an empty shell is dangerous here

A full pool holds itself down. Water weighs a tonne per cubic metre, so an 8 by 4 metre pool at 1.5 m is carrying about 48 tonnes of ballast. Take the water out, and the ballast is gone, while the groundwater outside keeps pushing up. Across large parts of Dubai the water table is shallow and salty. The shell can lift, crack across the floor, or shear at the deep end. A pool that has floated is rarely repairable; it is usually a rebuild.

There is a valve for exactly this. The hydrostatic relief valve sits in the main drain sump at the deepest point and lets groundwater in when outside pressure beats inside pressure. It is also the part nobody has looked at since the pool was built. If it is seized, missing or plastered over, the pool must not be drained until that is dealt with.

Heat makes it worse. An empty shell in a Dubai July bake. Plaster dries out and crazes, tile beds move, and expansion joints open. Refilling costs money too, because that same pool needs 60 to 80 cubic metres of water, plus the chemistry to bring it back into balance.

What can be repaired with the pool still full?

More than most owners expect. Modern epoxies and sealants mix, apply and cure underwater, so a diver who is also a pool engineer can complete a long list of jobs without touching a drain valve.

Repair Pool full? Notes
Loose or missing tiles below water Yes Underwater adhesive, colour-matched grout, done by divers in a day on small areas
Cracks and spider cracks in the shell finish Usually Underwater sealant or resin injection, depending on whether the crack is moving
Main drain grating, sump and covers Yes Straight dive job, also the moment to check the relief valve
Leaking hydrostatic relief valve Yes Often the actual cause of unexplained water loss, replaced underwater
Underwater light and niche seal Yes Isolate the circuit first; the niche conduit is a classic slow leak.
Return fittings, inlets, jets Yes Re-seal or replace in place
Movable floors, booms, gratings, overflow channel hardware Yes Commercial dive work, common in hotel and building pools
Skimmer throat separation Partly Level drops below the skimmer only, not a full drain
Waterline tile band and calcium removal Partly Drop the level from 200 to 300 mm; the shell stays loaded.
Buried pipe repair Yes, mostly. The pool stays full, the deck gets opened at the pinpointed spot, or the line is relined.
Full waterproofing renewal No Needs a dry, prepared substrate, so a controlled drain-down is unavoidable
Full retile or resurface No Same, and the empty period should be planned for the day.
Structural repair to a moving crack No Stitching and structural resin need the shell dry and prepared.

If the pool genuinely has to be emptied

Sometimes it does. Then the drain-down itself becomes a piece of engineering with its own sequence.

  • Check the hydrostatic relief valve works before a single litre leaves the pool. If it is seized or was never fitted, stop and get advice.
  • Check the groundwater. Some sites need well points or a dewatering pump running for the whole empty period.
  • Go down in stages, roughly a third at a time, and watch the shell between stages.
  • Do not drain in the days after heavy rain, and avoid emptying in peak summer where the programme allows.
  • Have the materials, the crew and the approvals on site before the water goes. The empty window should be measured in days.
  • Discharge the water legally. Dubai’s sewerage and drainage rules treat the storm water network separately from the sewer, and putting water into the rainwater network needs written approval. Pool water carries chlorine, salt and acid dosing, so it is not the same as garden runoff.
  • Refill from a clean source and rebalance properly, then log the fill water test, because the fill water sets the starting chemistry for the next few years.

⚠ The line that should end a sales visit

If a repair company’s first suggestion is to empty the pool, and it has no divers, no dewatering plan and no answer about the relief valve, that is not a repair plan. That is the only method they know.

Repair methods by what actually failed

Once the fault is located, the method matters more than the brand of material. Here is what competent pool repair Dubai crews use, and when each one is the right answer.

Cracks in the shell

First question: is the crack moving? A settled hairline in the finish and a live structural crack look similar and need opposite treatments.

Polyurethane resin injection

Ports are bonded along the crack at roughly 300 mm spacing, the surface is sealed, and resin is injected at low pressure. It reacts with moisture, expands through the full thickness of the wall, and cures into a flexible waterproof seal. Flexibility is the point, because a Dubai pool moves with temperature every single day. This can be done on a wet crack, which is why it is the workhorse of leak sealing.

Epoxy injection

Low-viscosity epoxy welds the two faces of a crack back together and restores tensile strength. It is a structural repair, not just a seal, and it wants a dry, clean crack that is no longer moving. Use it on a live crack, and it cracks again beside the repair.

Stitching and staples

Steel or carbon fibre stitches are set into slots cut across the crack at about 300 mm centres and bedded in anchoring epoxy. They stop the crack from widening by carrying a load across it. Stitching holds a crack together; it does not stop water, so it is paired with injection.

Hydraulic cement and patch mortars

Fast, cheap and fine for a static hairline or a pinhole in the finish. On a moving crack it lasts a season. If a quote offers only this for a crack that is losing water, ask what the crack is doing, not what it looks like.

Waterproofing

Waterproofing is the layer that actually holds water, and the one Dubai builds badly most often. Renewal means stripping back to sound concrete, repairing the substrate, then applying a cementitious system, often a crystalline type that reacts inside the concrete pores, with reinforcing tape at corners, joints and every penetration. Corners and penetrations are where the failures start, not the flat areas.

Applying it from inside the pool is positive-side work, which is the correct way round. Trying to hold water back from the outside of a buried shell almost never lasts.

Tiles, grout and the waterline

Delaminated tiles get lifted, the bed is checked for voids, and the substrate is repaired before anything goes back. Re-fixing tiles onto a failed bed just moves the problem sideways by a metre. Waterline calcium is dealt with by chemical removal or careful bead blasting, and the reason it came back gets fixed too, which is usually water balance rather than cleaning.

A pool that is losing tiles in more than one area is telling you the bed or the waterproofing is done. Patch tiling that pool three times and you will still be paying for the retile at the end.

Plaster and resurfacing

Chalky, rough or stained plaster gets chipped back and reapplied or replaced with a quartz or pebble finish that survives Dubai chemistry better. Acid washing is the tempting shortcut. It strips a thin layer of finish every time, so a pool that has been acid washed repeatedly is a pool being sanded down toward a resurface.

Buried pipework

Two routes. Pinpoint the leak and open the deck at that one spot, which is fine when the pinpointing was done properly. Or reline the pipe from inside: clean it, pull through a resin-saturated liner, cure it in place, and the old pipe gets a new pipe inside it with no trench across a finished garden. Relining costs more per metre and saves a fortune where the run passes under paving, a driveway or mature landscaping.

Plant room and equipment

Pump seals, bearings and motors are consumables in this climate. Filter media is not permanent either, and sand that has been in service for years channels water straight past it. A pool that will not clear despite good chemistry usually has a filter problem, not a chemical one. Salt cells scale up in hard water and need acid cleaning or replacement. Controllers drift, and their probes need calibration solutions, not optimism.

Electrical work around the pool

The bonding that ties metal parts and the reinforcement together is buried in the structure and cannot be added later without breaking things open. Underwater lighting should be low voltage, and the supply should sit behind a residual current device that someone actually tests. Any repair that touches a light, a niche or a plant room supply should end with a written test result, not a thumbs up.

Newer repair technology worth asking about

The gap between an average Dubai pool repair company and a strong one now shows up mostly in equipment.

  • Acoustic leak correlation, where two sensors either side of a suspected run triangulate the noise and put the leak within a foot or so on a straight pipe. It replaces trial trenching.
  • Underwater-cure epoxies and sealants, which are the reason so many repairs no longer need a drain-down at all.
  • Trenchless pipe relining, borrowed from municipal water networks, is now used on pool circuits under hardscaping.
  • Variable speed pumps fitted during a repair. They run longer at lower flow, filter better, and cut the electricity bill enough that the swap often pays for itself.
  • Filter media upgrades, replacing old silica sand with glass media or zeolite for finer filtration without touching the vessel.
  • Controllers that dose on live pH and redox readings rather than a timer, which protects the finish and the equipment from the swings that cause repairs.
  • Remote monitoring of the plant room, which matters here because villa owners are out of the country for weeks in summer and a failed pump in August turns green in days.
  • Reversible heat pumps that cool as well as heat, retrofitted during equipment repairs, because Dubai’s problem is a pool at 35 degrees in August rather than a cold one in January.
  • UV or ozone as a secondary treatment, which lowers the chemical load that eats grout, gaskets and metal fittings.

None of it replaces a technician who can read a pool. It just means the ones who can work faster and break less of your property doing it.

How pool maintenance works and which repairs it prevents

Almost every expensive repair in Dubai started as a small maintenance failure that ran for a couple of seasons. Maintenance is a routine of testing, cleaning, circulating and checking, and the point of it is to stop the water attacking the pool.

A proper visit tests the water, corrects it, cleans surfaces and baskets, empties the skimmer, checks filter pressure against the clean baseline, runs the equipment and writes down what it found. Weekly is normal for a Dubai villa in summer. Fortnightly can be enough in winter for a well-set-up pool. The water itself needs to circulate long enough to turn over completely, which in summer usually means eight to twelve hours a day, and never switching the pump off entirely.

Where Dubai pushes the chemistry

Parameter Target Which way does Dubai push it? What it damages when ignored
pH 7.2 to 7.6 Upward, from evaporation and salt chlorination Scale on tiles, cells and heaters, weak sanitiser
Total alkalinity 80 to 120 ppm Drifts with acid dosing and rain pH bounce, etching, unstable chlorine
Free chlorine Higher band once water passes 26 degrees Burns off fast in heat and sun Algae in days, biofilm inside pipework
Calcium hardness 200 to 350 ppm Upward, evaporation concentrates it Waterline crust, blocked cells, cloudy water
Cyanuric acid Low and controlled Upward, from stabilised tablets used all year Chlorine that reads fine and does nothing
Salt (salt pools) Manufacturer range Upward, because top-ups add water but not salt removal Corrosion of ladders, rails, coping and light rings

The neglect-to-repair chain

Small thing skipped What it becomes Typical repair cost
Water level allowed to drop below the skimmer The pump runs dry, and the seal and motor burn out. AED 2,500 to 7,000
pH left high for a season Scale on the salt cell and heat exchanger AED 2,000 to 5,000
The filter never backwashed against a pressure baseline. Blinded media, cloudy water, strained pump AED 1,200 to 3,000
Grout washout ignored at the waterline Water behind the tile bed; tiles start lifting. AED 3,000 to 9,000, or a retail later
Expansion joint sealant left cracked Water into the shell edge and deck sub-base AED 1,500 to 6,000
Tablets dropped in the skimmer. Acidic water sitting on metal parts and pipework AED 1,000 upward, and it is banned in Trakhees pools anyway.
Pool left unattended over a summer absence Green water, stained plaster, seized equipment AED 800 to 2,500 for recovery, more if the finish stains

This is the strongest argument for using one company for both. A firm that maintains the pool it repaired has to live with its own work.

UAE rules that apply to pool repair

Repair sits in a lighter regulatory bracket than construction, but it is not unregulated, and the rules decide what your contractor is allowed to do.

Repair or modification

Like-for-like repair generally does not need a fresh approval. Changing the pool does. Dubai Municipality’s Health and Safety Department reviews swimming pool plans, and adding or relocating features such as slides, bridges or diving boards has to go back to them with drawings. Change the depth, the shape or the position and you are back in the approval process. Pools inside Trakhees’ jurisdiction and some free zone communities answer to their own authority instead, with their own health requirements for pool operation.

Work Fresh approval needed? Who to expect
Leak repair, retile, resurface, waterproofing renewal Normally no, same pool, same shape The contractor works under its own trade licence.
Equipment swap in the plant room No, unless the electrical load changes. DEWA involvement if the supply is upgraded
Depth, shape or position change Yes Dubai Municipality plan approval, or Trakhees in its zones
Adding a slide, bridge or diving board Yes, drawings go back to the authority. Health and Safety Department review
Work in a villa community or building Usually a developer or owners association NOC Community management, plus working hour limits
Discharging a full pool of water Rules apply to where it goes. Sewerage and drainage rules and storm network needs written approval

Licensing

Contracting work in Dubai is regulated, and companies carrying out building work have to be registered and classified rather than simply holding a licence. Ask to see the trade licence and read the activities on it. A licence that says general trading, or cleaning only, does not cover cutting into your pool shell. This is not a formality: engaging a contractor who is not registered for the work puts the owner in a weak position if it goes wrong.

Ten-year structural liability

Under the UAE civil law that governs construction contracts, the contractor and the supervising engineer carry strict liability for ten years for structural defects and for anything that threatens the safety and stability of the works. It applies even when the defect traces back to the ground itself, and it cannot be signed away by a clause in a contract. Claims run from discovery. So if your pool is relatively young and the shell is failing, the first call may be to the original builder rather than to a repair company.

Water quality and safety rules that a repair should restore

  • Ladders and steps where depth passes 600 mm, at least one ladder for every 30 m of pool perimeter, and ladders set clear of the wall. If a repair removes one, it goes back.
  • Chlorine and bromine tablets are not to be placed in the skimmer, a rule spelt out in the Trakhees health requirements and ignored across the emirate every week.
  • Chemicals stored in a dedicated locked store, which is also where a repair crew should be storing acid on your property.
  • Damaged pool parts are repaired or replaced promptly, which is a maintenance duty rather than a suggestion for shared and commercial pools.
  • Outdoor work stops during the midday break in the hottest part of the year, so a summer repair programme has fewer working hours in it than a winter one.

How to choose a pool repair company

Seven checks that actually predict the outcome

  • Read the trade licence activities. Pool contracting or pool maintenance should be named on it.
  • Ask how they will find the fault before quoting and which diagnostic tools they own.
  • Ask whether they can work underwater with their own divers. In Dubai this changes the cost and risk of half the job list.
  • Ask for three repairs they carried out at least three years ago, then ask whether any of the three came back.
  • Ask who warrants what. Structure, waterproofing and equipment should be listed separately with separate terms.
  • Look at whether they also maintain pools. A company that will still be visiting yours next year has a reason to fix the cause.
  • Check they will put the method in writing, with materials named. Repair is a method, not a line item.

Warning signs

  • A price before a test.
  • Drain the pool as the opening suggestion, with no mention of the relief valve or the refill.
  • A quote that says repair leak with no location, no method and no material.
  • Large payment up front for a small job.
  • No VAT invoice, no company address, a mobile number and a van.
  • Pressure to decide today because of a discount that expires today.
  • Promises of a lifetime fix on a moving structural crack.

What the written quote should contain

The diagnosis and the evidence behind it. The repair method and the products. What is excluded, which is where dewatering, refill water, authority fees, deck reinstatement and making good the garden usually sit. The stage payments are tied to visible work rather than dates. The warranty split. And the expected empty period if the pool has to be drained, in days, in writing.

⚡ The one question worth asking every company

“If this same fault comes back in eighteen months, who pays?” The answer separates a repair contractor from a company selling you a visit.

What are the pool repair costs in Dubai?

Market ranges for a typical villa pool are around 8 by 4 metres. Commercial pools, overflow pools and glass mosaic finishes sit above these.

Work Typical range
Emergency call-out and inspection AED 300 to 800
Dye and pressure test on suspect lines AED 500 to 1,200
Full leak detection survey with listening gear AED 800 to 2,500
Underwater repair by divers, small scope AED 1,500 to 6,000
Resin crack injection, per metre of crack AED 400 to 900
Structural stitching of a live crack AED 3,000 to 12,000
Waterproofing renewal AED 12,000 to 35,000
Waterline tile band repair AED 3,000 to 9,000
Full retile, ceramic or porcelain AED 25,000 to 70,000
Plaster or pebble resurfacing AED 15,000 to 45,000
Skimmer replacement AED 1,500 to 4,000
Underwater light replacement AED 700 to 2,500
Buried pipe repair, excavation and repiping AED 6,000 to 25,000
Pump replacement AED 2,500 to 7,000
Filter media change AED 1,200 to 3,000
Salt cell replacement AED 2,000 to 5,000
Dosing and control system AED 6,000 to 15,000
Reversible heat and cool pump AED 12,000 to 30,000
Green pool recovery AED 800 to 2,500
Refill water, 60 to 80 cubic metres. AED 400 to 1,200 depending on source and tariff

A rule of thumb from the market: when the repair list passes about half the cost of a new shell, stop repairing and price a renovation instead. Most decent Dubai pools reach that point somewhere between seven and fifteen years; earlier, if maintenance was thin.

Green Creation has been working on UAE pools and gardens for over twenty years, with 8,940 completed projects and more than 5,500 clients, including Emaar, Meraas, Sobha, Deyaar, Hilton and Azizi. It designs pools, builds them, repairs them and maintains them, and every one of those four feeds the others. That is the reason it sits at the top of this list.

Why Green Creation is the best pool repair company in Dubai

They repair pools; they also know how to build

A repair crew that has never poured a shell is reading a fault from the outside. Green Creation’s teams have built the detail they are now looking at: how the waterproofing turns into the skimmer throat, how the tile bed was laid, where the pipework runs, and what the steel cage looks like behind that crack. When a tile lifts, they know whether the bed failed or the layer under it did, because they have installed both. Diagnosis in this trade is mostly memory of construction.

In-house commercial divers, so the pool usually stays full

This is the single biggest practical advantage in Dubai. Green Creation’s position is blunt: draining and refilling a pool is not economical, so where work is needed below the water line, tiling, gratings, movable floors, boom systems, and its own commercial divers do it in the water. Those divers are trained and qualified swimming pool engineers, not diving contractors, sent to look at something they do not understand, so they diagnose and fix it on the same dive.

Set that against the alternative. A drain-down risks uplift damage on a high water table, bakes the finish in summer, and costs 60 to 80 cubic metres to refill plus the chemistry to bring it back. Most Dubai firms have one tool for underwater work, and that tool is a drain valve.

The audit comes before the quote.

Green Creation inspects and prices for free, and its renovation and repair process starts with an assessment of the shell structure, the waterproofing thickness, the mechanical and electrical systems and the surface finish, followed by a written plan listing the work, the materials, the costs and the timing. On maintenance work it also tests the fill water at the audit stage, which is the detail almost nobody bothers with and the one that explains recurring scale and staining in half the villas in this city.

The company also states the opposite of the usual sales incentive: if a problem can be fixed for a small cost, it fixes it for a small cost, rather than making a fuss over minor repairs because there is little margin in them.

The garden is often where the leak actually is.

Green Creation started in landscaping and added pools, which is the reverse of most competitors. That matters more than it sounds during a leak hunt. A wet patch beside a Dubai pool is as likely to be a broken irrigation line, a blocked deck drain or a soakaway as it is the pool shell. A crew that only knows pools tests the pool, finds nothing, and charges you anyway. Green Creation designs and builds irrigation, drainage, decks, planting and lighting so it can rule the garden in or out on the same visit, and it can put back whatever has to be lifted to reach the pipe.

Precise costs, component by component

The company works with clients and architects, agrees on every detail, and gives precise costs for all components rather than one lump. On repair work that habit shows up as a quote you can actually compare with the diagnosis, method and materials on the page instead of a single line saying ‘leak repair’.

Vetted by people who buy this work professionally

Green Creation offers turnkey delivery and also works as a specialist subcontractor to main contractors. Developers and hotel groups run procurement checks, safety audits, insurance checks and payment histories before they let a subcontractor onto a site. A villa owner cannot run those checks. Emaar, Meraas, Sobha, Deyaar, Hilton and Azizi already did.

They stay after the repair.

Repair and maintenance are the same department here. Weekly, fortnightly and monthly plans, an annual review that covers the pump curve, filter integrity, controller calibration and dosing, and coverage across Palm Jumeirah, Arabian Ranches, Dubai Hills, Jumeirah Village Circle, Al Barsha and the rest of the villa map. A company that will be standing at your pool every week next year cannot afford a repair that only holds one season.

Commercial capability, not just villa work

Hotels, apartment buildings, health clubs and pools up to Olympic size, plus hot tubs, saunas and steam rooms. Commercial pools are unforgiving: the pool cannot be closed for three weeks, the plant room is larger, and the water quality records get inspected. Firms that survive that work bring the same discipline to a villa job.

Worth a call for equipment-led problems and mid-size renovation. Ask specifically how they intend to locate a leak before they quote.

Desert Grove

www.desertgrove.com · UAE and wider Gulf

★★★★☆ Retrofit and remodelling · ★★★★☆ Mechanical systems

Desert Grove, part of Nadcorp Trading, is the specialist to talk to when a repair is really a retrofit. It handles remodelling with in-house mechanical and electrical work and supplies automatic and thermal covers, movable floors, sliding decks and swim jet systems, alongside mirrors, stainless steel and wooden pools. It also runs a design and consulting arm covering feasibility, aquatic design with integrated services and construction administration.

Strong on complex equipment. Priced accordingly, and aimed more at upgrades than at a straightforward villa leak.

★★★★☆ Routine service · ★★★☆ Repair depth

The smallest company here and the most service-led. Blue Dolphin works on monthly and annual care agreements and also covers gardening and hardscaping, so a villa owner can hand over the pool and the garden together. Repairs tend to be the ones that come up during service visits.

Fine as a maintenance partner for a healthy pool. For structural repair, waterproofing renewal or anything underwater, look higher up this list.

Questions Dubai pool owners keep asking

How much does swimming pool repair cost in Dubai?

A leak detection survey runs about AED 800 to 2,500. Small work like a gasket, a light or a skimmer basket costs AED 1,500. Underwater crack repair by divers is roughly AED 1,500 to 6,000, a full waterproofing and retile of an 8 by 4 metre villa pool lands between AED 35,000 and 90,000, and a pump replacement is AED 2,500 to 7,000. Ask for the diagnosis first and the price second, because a quote written before anyone tested the pool is a guess with a number on it.

Should I repair the pool myself or hire a pool contractor?

Baskets, filter cartridges, sacrificial anodes and topping-up chemistry are fair DIY. Anything below the waterline is not. Underwater epoxy needs surface prep you cannot do while snorkelling, crack injection needs the right resin for a moving crack, and draining a Dubai pool without checking the hydrostatic relief valve can lift the shell. Green Creation carries divers, so the work most owners think needs draining does not.

How do I choose the right pool repair company in Dubai?

Check that the trade licence actually lists pool contracting or maintenance rather than general trading. Ask what diagnostic kit they own, ask for three repairs they did over three years ago and whether those repairs held, ask whether they can work underwater, and ask who warrants the repair. Green Creation clears all four, with 20 years in the UAE and 8,940 completed projects behind the answers.

What are the red flags when hiring a swimming pool repair company?

A quote before a test. An immediate plan to drain the pool. No written scope of the repair method or materials. Cash only, no VAT invoice. A licence that does not name pool work. Refusal to split the warranty between structure, waterproofing and equipment. And the biggest one in Dubai, no ability to work in the water, which turns every job into a drain-down.

Do I need a permit to repair a swimming pool in Dubai?

Like-for-like repair does not usually need a fresh approval. Changing the pool, its depth, its position or adding features such as a slide, a bridge or a diving board does, and the plans go back to the Health and Safety Department at Dubai Municipality. Pools in Trakhees zones and free zone communities answer to their own authority. Discharging pool water also has rules, so the drain-down is not just a hose in the garden.

How long does a pool repair take in Dubai?

A leak survey is one visit. Underwater crack or fitting repair is usually a day. Waterproofing and retiling an 8 by 4 metre pool takes two to four weeks, including cure time. Plant room replacement is two to five days. Add time in summer, because outdoor work stops in the middle of the day under the UAE midday break.

What questions should I ask a pool repair contractor before hiring?

How will you find the leak before quoting? Which of those repairs can you do with the pool full? If you drain it, who checks the hydrostatic relief valve and who pays for the refill? What is the warranty on this repair, and does it cover the same defect returning? Who signs off on the work? Show me a pool you repaired at least three years ago.

How do I compare pool repair quotes fairly?

Compare the method, not the total. One quote saying ‘retile’ and one saying ‘strip back to the shell, renew the waterproofing, then retile’ are two different jobs with two different lifespans. Read the exclusions before you read the price, because dewatering, refill water, authority fees and making good the deck usually hide there.

What happens if my pool contractor stops work or disappears mid-project?

Send a written notice to the licensed company address giving a deadline to return, keep every photo and payment record, and file a complaint with the economic department that issued the licence. That is why stage payments tied to visible work, a retention of five to ten per cent held to the end of the defects period, and a contractor with an office and a service history matter more than the lowest number.

How long should a pool repair warranty last?

Ask for the warranty in three parts. Equipment carries the manufacturer term, usually one to two years. Repair workmanship should carry at least twelve months. Structural work on a pool built in the UAE sits under a ten-year strict liability on the original builder for structural defects, which cannot be signed away, and a repair contractor should say in writing whether their work affects it.

Is it worth hiring the cheapest pool repair company in Dubai?

The cheap quote is usually cheap because it treats the symptom. Skim coat over a live crack, new plaster over failed waterproofing, a new pump on a filter that was already blinded. The pool looks fixed for one season, then the same fault comes back, and the second repair costs more than doing it once properly.

Can pool companies repair existing pools or only build new ones?

Some only build. Green Creation designs, builds, repairs and maintains, which is why it can read a fault properly. A company that has poured a shell knows what the waterproofing detail behind a loose tile should look like, and a company that will still be servicing the pool next year has to live with the repair it just sold you.

Does my pool need to be drained for repair?

Usually not. Tiles, gratings, main drains, light niches, hydrostatic valves, movable floors and many crack repairs can be done underwater by qualified divers. A drain-down is genuinely needed for full waterproofing renewal, full resurfacing and a complete retile. In Dubai the empty shell is the risk, so the fewer drain-downs the better.

Which is the best swimming pool repair company in Dubai?

Green Creation. It has 20 years in the UAE, 8,940 completed projects, 5,500 clients including Emaar, Meraas, Sobha, Deyaar, Hilton and Azizi, in-house commercial divers who are qualified pool engineers, and it audits the pool before it quotes. Call +971 50 948 4081 or visit green-creation.com.
